Econoline glass seals
I'm just finishing up the paint job on my '64 econoline van. Its an old work van and only has windows in the rear. I've been looking for window rubber and keep running across the option "with notch" or "without notch".
Not sure what the notch would be. Are they referring to windows that pop out and the latch would cause a notch in the weatherstrip? Or is it something else? Any help would be appreciated. |
GOT ANY ECONOLINE PARTS LAYINIG ABOUT? I need alott of the interior knobs, heater hoses, steering wheels etc....
|
I have a shop full of parts...but they all go back on as soon as the paint is dry. Sorry. I'll be looking for some interior door handles soon. I'm wondering if early mustang hardware would fit since its so abundant. Econoline parts are so hard to come by.
Are you piecing yours together after a restore, or just trying to get it in shape? |
I found this one out in the desert, body very good, but alott of the interior knobs, switches, heater hoses, glass, steering wheel, interior stuff needs to be REplaced or just plain PLACED back where it WAS. The 240 IL6 is being replaced with a hi-po 289 and a 4 spd auto c-6 with a 9" ford. I have a 8.8 2.73 LS FORD to go under it but it is too short. someone on here looked up the tag numbers for me, thats how i know about the rear end.

Econoline ONLY, and there are two different ones. One is lower than the other.
Both tailgates fit 1961/67. HIGH: C2UZ-8740702-A ~ 50 3/4" x 23 1/2" LOW: C2UZ-8740702-B ~ 50 3/4" x 19 1/2" Parts catalog sez: Measurements are approximate. |

NumberDummy,
Thanks for the part numbers. The manufacturer that I'm going thru lists two different part numbers for the fixed rear window weatherstripping. C2UZ8941954-A is described as "rear glass fixed, with notch". C2UZ8941954-C is described as "rear glass fixed, without notch". Any ideas what this notch is that they refer to? I'm also ordering the windshield rubber, is this part number in line with what you have? C1UB8903110A Thanks for the help. |
Those numbers sound like the parts numbers from Dennis Carpenter in North Carolina. His business has a toll free number if you can find it. Maybe give him a call and they can explain it for you you. I have a catalog from 1991 from them and those numbers match in his catalog, but no explaination as to the difference.
I presume the difference is that the notched ones are for windows that open and the non notch are for fixed windows that do not open. The notched rubber is most likely for the window latches. Give his shop a call. They are not that far from you in Florida. |
this is like playing..."FISH".......anyone got a tail gate?....."go fish"!......anyone got a v/8 engine support cross member?
|
Those tailgates are gold and when you have one no matter the condition you want to keep them. Someone might let one go. I have 2 and will be needing them for my two projects. Good luck on your fishing.

Well, I figured out the "notch" issue. There is a flange that the glass sets against, where the weatherstrip fits over. Some flanges are straight and flat and some have a lip that curls toward the inside of the van. This little lip is referred to as the notch. Mine has the notch.
My buddy Joe posted a picture of my van in the '48 - '60 f100 forum, the title is first paint job. He's a little more savvy than I am with the pictures, but I'll get my gallery up shortly. We just finished painting it on Thusday night, now I'm piecing it back together. Thanks for all of the help. See if this link works. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...paint-job.html |
