Warranty and Biodiesel
 

So I'm interested to know if running Biodiesel effects your manufacturers warranty. If you can run it, how much can you run, what types and does it effect the coverage of the warranty in anyway?

I sure would like to start running Bio in the truck. I like the idea on so many levels I'm not sure why there isn't a station around me thats already doing it with as many diesels are on the road.

If they can prove you are running over B5 a stealership might deny warrenty service.
I think they would have problems proving what blend you were running if the tank was full of B5 or less.

Additionally, if they deny warrenty service because you ran BioDiesel they will have to prove that the problem was caused by running BD; however, they will probably make you make them prove it.

Research online for the court case involving an 08 Superduty and running b100. I think it was on a competative diesel site. The outcome was a ruling that a third party company was not liable for a compatable and direct replacement fuel. Ford paid for the cab removal and found that the injector failure blew the engine not the fuel. I paraphrased it.

Manufacturers will look for any way possible to wiggle out of a warrenty claim.
I can't tell you how many Ford "Mechanics" have said to me that "BioDiesel doesn't have good enough lubricating properties and that will result in early engine failure".

Evidently that is the companies talking point on the subject.

They also claim that BD is corrosive so it will destroy injectors and pumps.

I really don't think they have done their home work on Biodiesel they see it as an unknown factor and just throw up scary objections
