98 ranger misfire intermittantly

Hi everyone I'm new here. I've oen my 98 ranger with 2.5L for about 6 years now i never had a problem i just hit 150,000 miles finally my first problem. I hope you guys here can help me out. Here is the problem. I start it up and runs fine after 10-20 minutes it starts to shake feels like a misfire and check engine light flashes on and off and slowly gets sluggish, i have step harder on the gas pedal to keep going. then while i am still driving all of a sudden like turning on a switch it stops shaking and i feel a increase in power everything seems to be fine then minutes later it happens again. here is what i have done so far. I replaced all plugs, wires, both coil packs. I pulled apart every plug under the hood i could find and checked them and reseated them. including injector plugs. checked for any vacuume leaks. i connected the OBDII scanner it comes up with only 1 code and that is (Detected Misfire in #2 cyl) i know i am getting spark to the #2 cyl.when i pull off the plug wire on both sides i got a great spark. any one with any ideas i can check thanks, Walt.

walt I have a 1991 Ford Ranger w/2.3L . I went through the same problems changing parts out. mine was still doing the same thing. then I replaced the ignition control module fixed all the problems. I drive it back to and from work everyday and never had another problem out of it since then, hopefully this may help you try one from a junk yard first it may save you some money new it will cost around $150.00 fordman26

Thanks fordman26 but i found the problem. it turned out to be a bad Fuel Injector on #2 cyl. The electrical part of the injector opened up. i found it by checking each fuel injector at the electrical plug with a multi-meter, all had 4.7 ohms across the two pins but the #2 cyl injector had zero ohms. I replaced it and the truck runs great again. you can read up on this forum ( https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...on-a-2-5l.html )
On how 87 XLT and myself found and repaired the problem.
thanks anyway.
