Alternator Help Needed....

Alright guys, I need some help here. I want to upgrade my charging system. I was considering a 1-wire deal, but Im reading on the net that it might be a bad idea due to power output issues(i.e lights, etc.). I also saw articles about upgrading to a 3G. How about a 140 amp Powermaster unit? I would like the 1-wire setup if it will work. Here are the specific questions. Ive got a 69 F-100 with a 390FE. Is the stock alternator a 1G? If so will any 1G fit with my brackets or does it have to be vehicle specific. If I upgrade to a 3G will it fit with my brackets or do I have to modify them. Last but not least, I am working on a budget, so what would be the most bang for my buck? I appreciate any help you guys can give me.
