Spark Plug Problems - 2004 5.4L F-150
I recently tried to change my spark plugs on a 2004 F-150 5.4L 24 Valve. I have had some complications, or at least what I think to be complications, on the last spark plug of the passanger side. I got the other seven done without a problem, but it seems to have gotten stuck. It looks as if the spark plug may be intack, because the nut broke free. I am not sure, but is there another way I could try and remove this last spark plug?

Just another reason why I bought my new F150 with the V6! :-roll

I would soak the heck out of it for a long time with penetrating oil. Then start it up and see if it will blow out, the warmer the engine the better. If that doesn't work soak it some more and try grabbing the top of it with needle nose pliers and pull it out.

Thanks for all the help.

a magnet might work. like a long flex one. just an idea. good look man. those plugs can be a pain.

Sounds like the lower grounding electrode portion of the spark plug broke off. Read through the TSB on this site. Rotunda makes a special tool called the "spark plug removal tool" just for this issue. You can read about it in the TSB. The #4 cylinder spark plug is the hardest to remove due to the ECM being in the way. If you need to, disconnect your battery, then remove the three large plugs going to your ECU. Then you can remove your ECU for easier access to the #4 cylinder. Definetly use some PB Blaster or other penetrating lube to help get the lower electrode out.

My truck has been at the Ford dealership, in Slidell, LA, as of late. Late meaning since Tuesday of this week and it was there three days 2 weeks ago. No work has been done on it as of yet, I need to go up the line at Ford. Does anyone know if there is a regional office that I can get in touch with? This is really making me mad, any help is appreciated.
