Everyone ok from this Nor'easter??

So did everyone make out alright from this last Nor'easter?? Some of you emailed or PMed me wondering where I have been. I wasn't effected by the Nor'easter, but I had to take time off of work to help my parents due to they both got pneumonia and had to run them to and from the doctors. My Dad's was so bad he had to be admitted to the hospital. Now I am playing catchup both at work and at home. Other than that I am doing fine.

The rest of you post up and let us know how you are doing and if you need any help.

Here in Western Suffolk, south shore of Long Island, it was a dud. We only had 2 inches of rain. 30 miles away they had SIX.

Although you wouldn't think it where I am, only about a mile from the water, there's a LOT of flooding and erosion ... amazing stuff. Gilgo beach is decimated again, Captree too, etc.

What happened was it appears the "eye" of the nor'easter settled right on top of Lindenhurst or within 10-20 miles or so.

I just had to deal with the drizzly rain on Sunday and had about 6-8 inches of the wet heavy sloppy snow / slush mix on Monday, then back to the rain on Tuesday. Other than getting wet when going outside, everyhting is fine.

BTW, the contractors got the new roof on in two days last week, so I am nice and dry inside :) Now I just have to finish up on the inside with some painting and install the hardwood floor.

we got about 17-20" of wet heavy snow. Trees were down everywhere but what can you do. It will be gone by the end of the weekend and then we will have to deal with the flooding.

Neil (tiny) glad to hear that you got your roof done. Good luck with the remainder of your project.

Tracey (xcquad466) that is what I was afraid of. Are you alright so far?

I wonder how Barr is doing as he is down your way.

A day like today makes you forget about all the the rain.. (for a moment anyway) Its going to be around 60 and is sunny.. The sun alone is a rarity in Rochester! I think 30% of the folks at work have already disappeared for the weekend! lol :-D I imagine My wife is already writing up a list of outside chores for me since the weekend looks amazing!

We were lucky that no serious issues arose here with the storm.. I know many are still dealing with the aftermath.. I send my best wishes for those recovering from the flooding or piles of snow...

I enjoyed reviewing the pics from the Letchworth g2g.. I am sorry I couldnt join you all... It is a beautiful place.. you should see it in the fall; spectacular colors!!

Have a good weekend

Bill

we made out OK...how are the folks Darren?

GLR 04-20-2007 09:07 PM

Snow? what snow? nothing but rain and high winds down in Virginia. Almost (but not quite) wish I was back in the roofing business. Lots of trees down, power outages, and shingles blown off. Hey Darren, don't let your parents rush getting out and about. That pneumonia can take a while to go away. It took me a few months to recover from my bout.

We got dumped on. About 10-24 inches of really heavy snow. Amounts depended on elevation - the hills got alot. As some of you know, we push alot of snow (about 60 properties, 50% commercial lots). We got it all done in good time but it wasn't easy. One of my men was sick with the flu, and the dump trucks tranny snapped in half on it's first lot.... yes you read that right - it snapped in half. We were down two trucks. Yesterday I spent the day tearing the the old flood victim apart, I think the case will fit the dump truck.

dried out

Things here weren't to bad. Hudson is still high. the cellar stayed dry. the 78 project re emerged from the snow bank. I got some donated tires, I'm painting rims and getting them mounted. Spring is here it's a good day to go truckin'.

xcquad466 04-22-2007 08:55 PM

well its all melted now... pain in the butt cleaning up all the tree limbs and crap. Well hopefully this nice weather I can start workin on the truck and fix a ton of crap.

Bill_T 04-23-2007 02:06 PM

Well, its offically spring !! :-X22

How can I tell? On Sunday I was able to spend about 3 hours on nothing but washing and cleaning My truck... Since no ice formed after the wash, my soaking feet didnt freeze up and it wasnt covered in road salt 24 hours after cleaning; it MUST BE Spring!!!! Who needs the weather man! :-D

rsylvstr 04-23-2007 02:18 PM

This is how i know it's spring....

changed the front and rear axles with Amsoil, put new steps on and new door edging:
