If I make a 50 gallon batch of BD, how much glycerol can I expect to separate out of it? I am trying to figure out what size tanks I will need if I do plan to vacuum off the methanol after separation. Thanks.

about 10 gallons

Whatever gallons you put in as methanol will come back out as glycerin +10% or so.

I was doing 45 gallon batches in a 63 gallon reactor and I usually get 12 to 15 gallons of glycerin out.

Thanks for the replies. When you are draining the glycerin out of the separation tank,can you see the difference enough so you can stop draining when you get to BD or how do you guys know when to stop draining?

You can very easily see the difference! The glycerol will be very dark, almost black. The biodiesel should be a pale yellow, or golden color.
