Just want to get some input from the Nevada chapter guys on where & what you like to do when your out playing. Cruse the strip? I think: not!!!!

For me, up here in the North Country, I prefer smaller casinos for night life. Reno is just too fast for me. Vegas is even faster, but it is nice to visit a brightly lit city when I get down that way.
Other than that, out door activities are mostly what draw me out of the homestead around here. Fishing, camping and drinking mass quantities of beer/margaritas in the local mountains and at the lower elevation lakes is a kick. A little boating, fishing and swimming in the low lands, camping, fishing and hiking in the higher country.

Mmmmm....Beer.... Camping ..mountains.... thats one of my goals in life!! :-X22

Being born and raised in Reno, my favorite place was going out to the foothills around the area like Peavine or the hills just east of Sparks off of Vista Blvd. I used to like to just get away from everything and climb the trails around there and hoist a few Pepsi's and listen to some Petty or Zeppelin on the old CD player, watch the city lights and just zone out.

If I was in the mood to be around folks, I used to love to go to a little hole in the wall bar just off of N. Virginia Ln called "Carz Bar". (for anyone in the Reno area, it's just before the Bonanza casino and it used to be called "George's Den".
The last time I was there, it was a pottery shop. Oh well. I had some good times there............................................. .......if someone would just remind me of them. :-partybud

Funny isn't it Hoss? That the funner the times were, the harder to rember them. I wonder if the liquor has anything to do with it? :-drink
I drove by the old Valley Bar on Hwy 88 many times, and always said to myself "when I get more time I'm gonna belly up to that bar and enjoy the old honky tonk atmosphere, like the ol days". Well, I think I made it in there one time. It burned down recently. What a bumber. I like those old bars like that. Brings back good memories when a speak easy was a speak easy. :-partybud

There's actually a lot about Nevada that I love and I've come to realize that I miss "home". I never in a million years thought I would move away from there and yet, here I am. I've got a lot of good memories there. I hope I'm able to move back one day, but my fiance' Debbie was born and raised in Billings and she loves it here and all I want is for her to be happy so I'm going to stay for awhile. But I vow that one day I'll see the high desert again and I'll show her what beautiful scenery really is. I just have to work on her bit by bit.

One of my favorite places to visit is Jarbridge. We travel in off the Mountain City Highway.
One of the funnest places is Garnet Hill.

I went fishing up at Wild Horse in 2002 with my best friend just a few weeks before he re-enlisted in the Army. We took the drive to Jarbidge and I was surprised as to how remote and isolated it really is. I thought there would be at least a paved road leading to it. I can't imagine how stranded the residents must feel in the winter.

My favorite place to camp though is in the Smoke Creek desert. I used to go Chukar hunting there and in my opinion, the desert at dusk is probably the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. When we would go camping, I used to eat lunch at a deserted ranch just inside the reservation called Bonham Ranch on the Bonham Ranch Road. There's a few old buildings there and an old artisian well with the best tasting water around.
The only thing wrong with that ranch though is that it's chocked full of rattlers' in the summer. In what used to be the tool shed or maybe even the gargage, you can look in and see the floor move. I started counting the ugly little serpents one afternoon and stopped when I counted 100 snakes in one sitting with more to go. Then I did the manly thing and screamed like a 12 year old girl when I saw one outside the shed, jumped into the truck, locked the door, (why I locked the door I'll never know), and sped off. :eek:

Just across the Cali border, skiing at Kirkwood makes for some good times during winter months. A little carving on the slopes makes for a nice day on the mountain. Of course, a good soak at the local hot springs and a couple of good beers will ease the aching afterwards.

There are some good places to go here in Vegas... I use to go to the caves in the southwest part of town... great view, and you can go hiking in the caves!!

I enjoyed going to "Boulder Beach" at Lake Mead. It is a little rocky, but wet. I heard recently they may have closed it though. I hope not. If not at the Beach, Then throwing darts at a bar.

Boulder beach is still open. Me and the wife went there last weekend! The water is really low, As you say its rocky. It's still a nice road trip for us and the critters!

nice, on my way to mexico for the weekend. Might try out Boulder Beach the weekend after.

I used to have a very good view of Peavine from my backyard when I lived in Stead. Great area. I loved it there and definitely want to move back there soon.
