biodiesel

ford dealer says i can only run 5% biodiesel or it will mess up my injectors ?? will
5% bio make any diff in power or milage? i have a 05 6.0 powerstroke an a 95 7.3 powerstroke.

For the most part BD, even B100, does not significantly increase power or milage.
Some folks report modest increases others report modest decreases most report no change.

With the new ULSD fuel you absolutly need a supplement to increase fuel lubricity.
5% BD will eliminate that need. It will also keep your fuel system clean and reduce emissions.

By the way the 5% thing is not just Ford all engine makers, with very few exception, impose that restriction. They give you all sorts of reasons mostly to scare you but the real reason is that ASTM has not adopted a standard for BD yet and without a standard you cannot be sure of the quality of the fuel you are buying.
They allow B5 because it will meet the existing standard for dino diesel

I saw where the new dodge "COMERCIAL vehicles only" will warranty up to 20%.

Warranty on biodiesel is all over the board. From 5% to 100% depending on engine manufacturer. Sometimes it isn't the engine it is the fuel tank and fuel handling system that can't handle the higher % of bio.

I make biodiesel myself. I make hundreds of gallons every week and that fuel ends up in more kinds of vehicles and engines than I can remember.

Most use it at B100. Its a better quality fuel than petro diesel. Slow to catch on because its only been a few years with high fuel prices. Also slow because the manufacturers don't want to take risks.
