New F-150 and new to the forum

I have been browsing through some of the past posts and found a wealth of info on here. Thanks fo everyone sharing their experiences and opinions.

I just got a "new to me" F-150. I traded in my 2001 F-150 reg cab, XL, 4.2L, 140000 miles on a 2005 F-150 2WD Super Cab XLT w/ 5.4L motor w/ 19000 miles. Paid a little over 17k for it, so I think I got a fair deal. The previous owner had also installed a Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust system on it which is very nice.

What other modifications would any of you suggest doing to this truck? I have put 3 tanks of gas through it so far and am averaging about 17 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving. I definitely want to get a bed liner and upgrade the stock 235/70/17 tires. Any other suggestions?

Again, I am glad to be on here and thanks in advance for all the helpful information!

Get a tunner/programer

Get a Tunner/Programer. It's worth it. I got the Superchips, it was easy to use.

You'll find alot of different recomendations when it comes to tunners/programers. They all work great, just need to decided how technical you want to get. The Superchips are real basic, and easy. Mine was worth every penny.

Good luck. The tunner will unleash the tiger under your hood.

There are many many modifications you can do. The best parts will depend on what you want to do with your truck. Tell me some more about what youre aiming for and Ill be able to point in the right direction on some parts. Just keep in mind, everyone has their opinions on the best parts out there, so keep an open mind.

In the meantime, you can check out my site to see whats available, and get familiar what there is out there for the truck.

Welcome to the forum by the way!!

My main goals would be to gain fuel mileage and simply increase the overall performance. I put on about 20-25000 miles a year with 98% of it on pavement. I do drive around our deer lease some, but that isnt much. I pull a trailer back and forth to the lease sometimes so that is something to consider.

Add a light weight soft roll up Tonneau Cover and get another 2mpg

I increased my fuel mileage by adding the TuXedo Lo Pro Soft Roll Up Tonneau Cover.

I have the 04' f150 4x4 Super Crew with the 5.4L engine.
I was getting 13 mpg prior to adding the Tonneau Cover and now I get 15 mpg with the Tonneau Cover on. It is light weight and looks great too.

Others have said they also get 1.5 - 2 mpg increased after adding the soft light weight roll up Tonneau Cover.

I purchased the TruXedo Lo Pro others have said the Access Tonneau cover is just as nice.

Enjoy your truck.....
