2004 F-150 Reveal
Ford Truck Enthusiasts was invited by Ford Motor Company to attend the reveal of the all new 2004 F-150. We had planned to get the photos up yesterday morning but due to server issues we could not get them online until now.
For now, we have about 90 photos we took. Due to the server issues we are delaying press kit and Ford media photos, specs, etc. until a little later today. You can view the photos, plus see the 500HP 2004 Lightning prototype here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?&albumid=2756 |
2004 F-150 Reveal
I own a 2000 f150 extended cab 4x4. I love it but I have to say I was excited to see the new f150 but I am really disappointed I really think the look cheap and blaaaaagh. Oh well maybe the new 150s will be like the mid 70 mustangs. hope I didn't offend anyone. bob

I kinda like the new truck. I think that it looks better then the previous truck. Has a lot of styling points of the super duty, and we all know how awsome that truck looks!

I hate to say this but, I think it looks like a warmed over chebby...:-X18

2004 F-150 Reveal
I think it looks to squared up, too many sharp edges, and I hate the things that jut out past the rear wheels. It doesn't look like a truck except the fact that it has a bed.

What's up with that half-sized supercab on the red one? Is that what the "regular cab" models are going to be like? If so, cool! But if that's the new Supercab....ICK!

2004 F-150 Reveal
Nice work Ken. The relationship between Ford and FTE is wonderful. Who knows, maybe someday they will offer FTE member discounts. :)
I like the 2004 F150. Won't give up my 300 I6 and twin-I-beams for it, but I think it looks a lot better than the current F150. Superduty type grille is nice as is the huge blue ovals. Overall is supposed to be toughened up a lot with stiffer frame and body, wider track, bigger wheels and brakes, and four wheel disks. Biggest question for me is, Does it come with a stick shift? The newspaper photo I saw shows the window crank for the XL so there may be hope for a stick shift too. The angularity of the body is closer to the older Ford Trucks than the current F150s rounded edges and the hood on the 2004 does not seem to slope as severely either--both good points in my opinion. Can see a lot of Ranger in the power hood, some Dodge Mayor in the big grill (I kinda liked the Mayor). Worst thing to me stylewise is the slanted sides of the grille which give it a hint of Ch**y Silveradoo-doo. All in all it is a winner and I think it will rack up huge sales for Ford. As for us old-timers, though, as nice as this new F150 is, we'd still prefer a '67-'79 style. INLINE SIX POWER!Oo. '95 F150 XL 300 Cubic Inches of Low RPM Truck Torque! And twin-I-beams too! "Drive a stick young man! There'll be time for automatics when you're old and unable." |

I like the new look. I think the current body looks good, but the new one is just different. Its like the difference in a 98 ranger and a 2002 ranger. Everythings gotta change sometime.

The front end looks like it has a double chin, or two bumpers. Otherwise it looks like a modern truck. It looks like there may be some hope for a bigger std cab.
Thanks for using FTE! :-X25 [link:www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID75&conf=genconf |Garage and Shop] Forum [link:www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID116&conf=DCConf ID9|Ranger] Forum [link:www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID91&conf=DCConfI D12|1973-1979 Ford trucks] Forum [link:www.ford-trucks.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID93&conf=DCConfI D8|1997-2003 F150 and E150 Forum] As a Moderator I do not "Subscribe" to most topics, please send email/pm if you need a reply -Thanks! - |

Looks good to me! Guess I'll have to save up for a new one. At least it doesn't look like a raggedy chubby.

2004 F-150 Reveal
I am sort of getting used to it, I hate the model that has a piece jutting out from the bed like the tires were spaced out for more foom in the bed.

2004 F-150 Reveal
I like it, factoring in some the SD look so it's easliy recognizable as a Ford is a nice touch. I never did like the look of the F-150 after the '97's came out.
PS, I am glad Ford is letting GM retain all the "Ugly Truck" awards :) |
