95 Ranger 2.3 no fuel pressure
 

Hi, I have a 95 Ranger 2.3 with a manual tranny. In the past I have had problems with this truck not starting do to a bad inertia switch and numerous fuel pumps. A couple of weeks ago I pulled the truck off of the driveway into the street and let it set there for a few hours. When I went to put it back on the driveway it would not start. I got it pushed on the side of the garage. I did my normal routine of doing a pressure check. I had no fuel pressure so I assumed that it was the fuel pump (as usual) so I dropped the tank and changed the pump. I got it back together and it still wouldn't start. I checked the fuel pressure and the manifold still had 0. So I started my diagnostic. I have power from the fuse to the fuel pump relay. I then checked the wiring at the inertia switch and found that there is no voltage with the key on at the supply side of the inertia wiring. I verified continuity between power distribution block and the inertia switch. I put in a new fuel pump relay and it still has no fuel rail pressure and there still is no electric signal at the inertia switch.

Anyone have any thoughts where to go from here?

Okay I figured it out and have it running now. In case anyone else runs into this problem I will give you what my solution was. I did some further wire test/tracing and found that the "red" wire in the schematic was not getting power. I traced it back to the problem being the ECM relay went out. And just in case anyone is interested when you are sitting in the drivers seat looking out the over the hood the fuel pump relay is the one on the right closes to the driver. THE ECM is the one the right in front of it.

At least you didn't pay someone to replace the fuel pump and still have the problem. From what I've learned, the relay buggers are usually more suspect than the fuel pump in these kind of situations.

where is the ecm? is it in the distribution. box? I have a 95 Ford ranger 2.3 extra cab man tran. replaced the fuel pump and filter got fuel thru filter but truck wont start is the ecm a black servo? I don't have inertia switch problem though anyone help driving me crazy start and drive it for like 10 min then it dies starts back up chugs dies and that's it has not started for 3 days HELP

I don't think your issue is the module, it is something more basic but there are many possibilities, coil packs, plug wires, other electrical, then fuel related things. But if you want to know about the module, below is what I know.

Ford refers to it as the PCM. It is supposed to be under the driver side dash. There is a kickpanel under the steering wheel. there is a pull out piece on it near the parking brake release which exposes the OBDII plug for diagnostics if you get a MIL. To get access you may have to remove that panel, and there is a metal panel under it which can also come off. You will need to deal with the latches for the parking brake and hood release as part of the removal, but it's not that bad.

thanx for the reply much apprecitede I have tested the fuel pressure and I am not getting anything replaced fuel pressure regulator today starting to get a little pressure when I check bleeder valve on fuel rail hope that the problem if not off to coil packs plugs wires etc... anything else I should check? thanx

I'm assuming battery is giving enough cranking amps. Wires to the starter can get cruddy. Never checked on my truck to see if you can hear the injectors firing but on some vehicles you can. Beyond that and the other stuff I mentioned I'm tapped out.
