Replacing/Modifying AOD Tailshaft Governor

Tranny in question came from a van with 3.55 or 3.73 (90 E250 that I never saw, so not quite sure) but I am running with a vehicle that currently uses 4.10 gearing in the diffs.

I have been told to 'add weights' to the governor. Is this something I can do myself? Ford parts still available? Should i just try to find a 4.10 governor??

Then I am curious if I should re-visit TV Cable adjustment when governor is changed/modified.

Any insight is appreciated

I'm running an AOD and have never heard of changing anything associated with the governor when changing gears. Go to www.TransGo.com or www.baumannengineering.com and see what they have to say about the AOD. I am putting a TransGo shift kit in mine right now to help it shift better and live longer.

An AOD governor is an AOD governor.
There is no difference as far as gearing is concerned.

The biggest problem lies with the cable adjustement.
It is critical and a poor adjustement can smoke an AOD transmission in a few miles.
