vin decode, please help!
 

Hi, i'm new to the site and I am starting a restoration of a 63 3window pickup. I have two different doner vans to use for parts. I would love to know the details of the two doner vans.

the first vin: e12th450554, 090 y e120 289 g01

the second vin: e11ah877157, 090 bm e112 389 g07

thanks for your help! Which parts from these vans would be the best/ideal parts to transfer to the pickup?

the 64 has parts that are a bolt on for your 63. both have hard to find trannies, the 64 is 1 year only tail housing. the 9 inch in the 66 is good to have, but if the 64 has the small u joints there is no way to cross it over. tailshaft yoke from the 66 should fit the 64, then you could use the 9 inch in yours.

the automatic columns and linkage is hard to find also, and will interchange from all years. the column drop is differant, but the column is the same.

the 66 has a firewall heater, much better heat and they still make heater cores for it.

i would use the little motor, rearend, firewall heater, and mabey the wiper motor. if you use the 66 wiper motor, you can get a delay module and switch from an 80 up and have delay wipers.

Thanks for the information, much appreciated. Is there any particular reason you would use the small motor instead of the 240? (other than the ease of installation?)

#1, it will bolt in without to many problems!
if you look at the 64 and 66 you will find the 66 has an engine crossmember, and a different tranny mounting system. the 64 stuff is the same as 61, 62, 63.
you will also find some clearance issues with the bigger motor. nothing you cant fix, but still problems.

i get anywhere from 22-28 m.p.g. out of my 61 with a 4.00-1 rear gear at 70 m.p.h.
never had any problem getting around in hilly country, [the ozarks]. and, knock on wood, never had a break down in almost 80,000 miles!

let me rephrase that last part, never had a breakdown on the road. starter went out in the driveway, and lost the floor heater core about 3 blocks from home.

it has never left me stranded, and hopefully never will!
