mileage with b100 or b-99
 

Has anyone noticed a decrease in mileage when using bio b100 or b99? I've been using the stuff since I got the truck and it runs great on it. My mileage has never been great though. 10 mpg.

I'm seeing the same mileage as best i can tell.

Both of mine [ 1 Ford, 1 Cummins ] show a slight increase, about 2-5 mpg.

Hmmm. I still thinking something may be wrong with the truck. Just changed the IP, injectors, K&N filter, ram air. Still no recognizable improvement but it may be too soon to tell. Just making sure that people weren't see a decrease. Thanks for the response.

Don't get to use the stuff too often here, but in both the VW and the 7.3 it seemed to run quieter, and if anything had a slight increase in mpg. would need to average several tankfulls to say for sure.

Slight decrease in mileage. Momma's truck gained a half MPG. Mostly depends on your driving style and a little with each individual truck.

Mine did run a lot quieter. I started using it because my truck was smoking (black) alot. That went away also or was greatly minimized. I figured that I had another problem going on that was only noticed when I added a pyrometer. The truck at full throttle going onto a freeway could have the EGT's easily climb to 1200. Some of the other guys on the IDI forum were barely pushing 1000 with modified engines. That gave me the hint to change the injector as it was providing way too much fuel. I am still waiting to get some stats on the new IP. Initial runs showed no change in mileage but the truck runs alot better and the EGT's are now normal. The mileage could really be related to my driving habits as I live in a moderately hilly area and do a lot of stop and go street driving.

I dont know what the normal temps are on your year, but when I run it I run better and my stock temps with a 2000 run post turbo hammer down barely 1000. Hearing alot of truck drivers losing fuel economy and plugged filters. I believe they are getting industrial bio that is not quality controlled. I think they are getting junk that is only partly transvercified and getting both glycerin and other soaps.

I get the same or better mpg with my idi vw on b100. I haven't tried it yet in my 1994 f350 idi turbo 7.3 but it got 11 mpg today all highway, it's a dump dually 4wd with (ugh) an automatic. So yours doesn't seem so far out of line(a little low) mine also has 4:10 rears.

I have read that a gallon of B-100 has 10% fewer BTUs per gallon than a gallon of D2, so it should stand to reason that mileage should be less. That said, few things effect mileage as much as driving characteristics.

my miliage went up a little, have you had your truck timed with the right tools. that can make a huge difference.

PSNut...How did you get a 1992 PSD? Obviously not a factory option for another 2 years.

Tried to have the truck tuned by international. Their light was broken so they said it sounded good and ran good so don't worry about it. Still looking for someone in my area with a meter because the mileage is still the same.
