Can anyone help me?

Hey i am considering buying a econo but know nothing about them. i was wondering where i can find the vin number and if there are any common problems that i need to look for before buying one of these trucks. any advice or information that will help me make an intelligent purchase would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the typical price range of a 1967 econoline pickup?

Thank You very much,
mike

Here is some help. The vin tags are usually on the left driver door. If not I have been told the serial number is also stamped behind the bracket for the spare tire. Not sure where, I have to check on mine yet.
The steering components can be loose and cause the truck to wander. This is from wear and tear. King pin bushings usually cause this. These can be fixed.
Look for rust under the floor. The front seam of the floor is notorirous for this. This is where the metal slooping down meets the flat of the floor. You can see this by looking through the grill area. The front body supports behind the front wheel wells can also rust out. This where mud collects from the wheel. The gas tank box at the filler tube rusts out along the floor. There is no replacement metal for this. A person has to rebuild it. Most outside sheet metal can be obtained.
Tailgates are a problem. No one makes replacements of these. So you will either have to fix the one you have or make a homemade one.
These are just some things. Otherwise they are still a very fun truck to drive sitting right up front like that.
Price wise. It is hard to say. I seen restored ones going for 7000 to 8000 on ebay and some really nice ones down to only 2000 on ebay. Ones needing work going for under a 1000 even at 500.
If it is a five window that is nicer. There are less of them around and give better vision.
If any more questions don't be afraid to ask. We here will do what we can to help.
