How to remove a 1989 f150 dash?
 

How do I remove the dash from my 1989 f150?

Any help would be just great!

Do you have to take it all the way out, or do you just need to get behind it? The reason I ask is that I have pulled mine back in order to install the power window/lock harness, but I did not take it all the way out. So, I can get it loose for you, but I am not sure what you will face after that if you want to remove it all the way.

Anyway, there are 4 torx screws across the top of the dash. Underneath, there is a 10mm bolt underneath the left side of the glove box. There is another bolt on the far left side that attaches it to the parking brake mechanism. Then you will need to remove the bolts that hold up the steering column. There's 2 18mm bolts going up into the dash. The last thing is to take the 4 nuts off of the bracket that bolts to the firewall where the steering column goes thru.

This will get it loose where you can pull it away from the body. If you are removing it all the way, I recommend you pull the steering column completely and then lay the dash down on it's face on the floorboard so you can see what wiring harnesses to remove. I believe the main harness goes to a round connector on the firewall on the left. There will be some vacuum lines and cables to take loose from the a/c. Beyond that I am not sure what else would need to be removed but if you've got the dash on the floor it should be easy to see what else to take off.

Someone else who has gone farther than I have will hopefully chime in and fill in the holes here.
