05XLT and the Fallon Mud Bog

05XLT has agreed to renting a car for that weekend - we intend to enter it in the Mud Bog. :-missingt He is in the Las Vegas area so lets all make suggestions as to which vehicle he rents, and where.

The rules for a Street entry are simple;
1. Current registration and license,
2. DOT approved street tires no larger than 33",
3. Factory type engine - Ford to Ford, GM to GM
4. Open headers, under chassis only
5. 4, 6, and 8 cylinders will run together (what of the V10?)
6. Single carb or fuel injection
7. No nitrous
8. Turbos, or Superchargers must be factory installed.

And, of course there is an unlimited class - you run whatever you bring.

Now he has to drive it up so we should get something comfortable (or not :-D )

I suggest a Lincoln Navigator with the biggest engine he can get but maybe a RamCharger or a Tahoe would be faster? Can you rent a Dodge with the Viper engine?

I suggest Hertz (I would take the extra insurance!) but do not know the best rental place in the Las Vegas area - any suggestions?

What you guys think?

You should take it up into the dry lake bed between 722 and US 50 west of Austin in mid March. You want to talk about a mudhole? :)

ANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't know you were coming - you going to camp out, or join the RV guys, or those of us at the motel?

olfordsnstone 09-15-2006 08:15 PM

Yeah, Andym and Broncobabe will be there. I know their just dyin' to hit the hot springs in Austin. (not to mention the hot springs in that dusty ol' Fallon hotel :-D )
You guys are showin up, aren't you Andy? :-X22

My suggestion is an 05 f-250, 6.0 diesel, & an off road package,

Just rmember to stall it up to about 1800 rpm to get the boost up before they give you the go lights, :-X22

olfordsnstone 09-22-2006 10:10 AM

Leeroy, your scaring me with that suggestion for a competition bogger description. That's my truck. Well, except for the 250 part, mine's a 350.
I hope your not trying to tempt my wild side with a drunkin dare. My wife would kill me!

Skipped_link 09-22-2006 11:11 AM

Well, you know that the mud in fallon is fairly shallow, & it is side by side racing, so with the potential of the 6.0 & the narrower tires, I think you would be very competative, & probably even dominate the stock class,

That is, unless your scared, 8D

olfordsnstone 09-22-2006 11:29 AM

If you had ever pissed my wife off, you would be scared too.
She would cut me off my allowance, among other things. :-D

LMFAO... I can only imagine what other things she could cut you off from!!!

olfordsnstone 09-24-2006 12:10 PM

At least she doesn't cut other things off from me. :-missingt

Wait a minute, that's not EVEN funny. :-innocent

Less than a week,

05XLT, you better decide on a ride,

Olfordsnstone, even if you don't race there will be plenty of beer to drink,

olfordsnstone 09-24-2006 12:47 PM

I'll be side by side with ya (in spirit), chearing from the sidellines, getting a mud bath.
You could probably just hose me off when you wash your truck after the drags. Just tie me up to the bumper like a trophy buck when you cruise through the car wash.
Oh wait, you probably wouldn't clear the roof of a car wash with that beast would ya?

Lookin forward to meeting our fearless chapter leader this weekend. See ya there 05xlt. We have faith in ya.

If 05XLT chickens out on us, I volunteer my jeep cherokee --- it is helpless in the mud, but maybe Skip can push it through.

I will bring my VISA card in case we want to buy some mud tires for it. Can someone give me a ride home if we break it?

I'm afraid Skip's truck would be pushing you through with his front differential to the upper back hatch of your cheroke. His bumper wouldn't exactly line up. :-D

I always wanted a jeepster - we could make it into a roadster with Skip's help!
