Junkyard Find - 1969 F600
I recently found a 1969 F600 chassis in a local junkyard....owner said $75 and I can take the whole thing or as much or as little as I want.
The GOOD...some interior parts ( That I want for my 69 F100 ) such as the dash with tach, am radio in good shape, all glass is good, doors are straight and quite clean, the hood is perfectly straight ( significant surface rust inside...) and various other trinkets I can use or sell on Ebay. The cab seems quite solid although I haven't looked close at the floor, the grill looks great ( it is painted )...is there any market for a heavy ford grill? The BAD....The dash pad is shot ( DAMN ) fenders ( inner and outer ) are rotten, although I have no use for F600 Fenders anyway The ??? - The engine appears to have an oil bath air cleaner....I thought the sticker on the cleaner said "330"...was there an FE block 330? The transmission is a 4 speed with a 2 speed rear end. Any market for these parts? Should I bother with the engine and transmisson? I have no idea if the engine is loose? What else should be of value off of the F600 trucks that might swap with the f100-F250? |
actually there was a 332 FE, can't remember exactly what years it was used though, other than that I can't help you much.
Edit, just did a little searching the 332 was used in Ford branded cars in 58 and 59 only |
Possibly the FE family had a destroked industrial/commercial engine like the 385 family(370)??
|
the FT engines were 361 and 391.

Hey Mike... my favorite thing, a junkyard find! Let me know if you need a place to haul it to or I might even have access to a trailer if needed. I'd be interested in the cab if it's decent - my front mounts are SHOT!
Shoot me an e-mail if you like. Kelly |
I realize there was a 361 and a 391 but it seems as if I have heard of a 330 before. I know a guy that recently bought an old dump truck and if I remember correctly he said it had a 330 in it and it looked like an FE. I will have to ask him about it next time I talk to him-not that it realy matters anyway.

Sadly my 69 was too far gone. It now sits at the bone yard... hopefully a donor to save others and not just to be crushed.

There is a 330 ford truck engine it's just a industrial engine my stepdad has a '74 f-600 and a '71 f-600 dump with the 330.

IT'S PROBABLY A 330HD MOTOR
YES, I'VE GOT A 1969 F600 DUMP TRUCK WITH A 330HD MOTOR, WHICH HAS A MORE BEEFY LOWER END AND MORE DESIGNED FOR HANDLING A LOAD LIKE A DUMP TRUCK WOULD HAVE. THE MOTOR IN MINE HAS A BIG HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK WHERE A CONNECTING ROD CAME THROUGH THE SIDE WALL. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A MOTOR FOR MINE AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING ONE LIKE IT. IT ALSO HAS A TANDEM REAREND AND A TWO SPEED TRANS WITH A SWITCH ON THE SHIFTER. LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A 330HD OUT THERE TO BE GOT IN THE NORTH/SOUTH CAROLINA AREA. EMAIL AT JRCESNB@HOTMAIL.COM.

big bronco needs fixed
Hi. Im new here and dont know my way around this site. But I have some questions about my truck.
|
Well, tech questions are better in the truck forums, you are in the Iowa chapter here.
|
330 IS an fe/ft along with 332 361 391 r ft
|
The 330 was an industrial engine, it was used in the heavier trucks, but it also used alot in the F350 Uhaul trucks. Supposed to be a very durable engine.
BTW there's an old ISU truck of about the same vintage for sale in Fairfield but this is 4WD. |
Yep, have one in a 71F600. Runs good, the trans has issues...
