newbee question

Hi, I'm a new powerstroke owner, been on FTE for a couple of weeks, and just today checked out this forum, and I am damn near hooked! My question is this, what are the pros and cons of making your own bio vs. using straight wvo? I like the simplicity of wvo, but I hate losing bedspace for a tank. How hard is it to make biodiesel, and is it worth it? I drive 100 miles a day, so I'm looking for a cheaper way to work. Thanks all, and SEMPER FI!

Here's a biodiesel homebrew guide.

Here's another link to a good website to answer your questions: LINK

Ive calculated 74 cents a gallon in chemicals, wvo free, your time and a lil electricity. Barrels and stuff free, hoses, fittings and pumps harbor freight for cheap.

SO honestly, about how much time n effort does it take to make about a 55 gal drum of bio? My only real concern is about the wife bitchin about me not spending time with her. Maybe I can get her to mix it for me hehe.

Tell her how MUCH money you'll save
on fuel costs. Then u can take her to the Atlantis resort in the Bahama's with the cash saved.:-D

HEHE, good idea Nut, we think alike, but your idea is better. I was figuring the hell with a vacation, I can use the money to put gas in my boat and beer in my gut lol.

How fast can you cut and weld? All materials in front of you and a goal and you should be able to do it in a day and start your first batch. But if you have family like mine there is alot of talking and not much work getting done. Seriously Im going to model my small plant like fabmans. A barrel sideways on a frame with welded fittings and a ace hardware thermostat and heat coil from water heater. Just have to be home and not break down out here on the road anymore.
