Anyone in Australia done a 73-79 2WD F100 power steering swap?

I've been thinking about upgrading to power steering in my '77 2WD F100 but just had a few questions in regards to the Australian models.

I've got a 351 Cleveland from an XE Falcon and I've heard that the steering columns in these F100s are adapted from a Falcon so can I just grab parts from a Falcon? I know in the US the PS column is shorter but is it the same for the Australian ones? I wan't to be able to do the thing myself but not really sure which parts I can just swap over? Did we get any of these trucks with power steering as an option?

There is a a reply in "StarTrash's" post (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=427983) in the 73-79 forum that the PS box and column should be from a 73-79 with PS and the belt, hoses, pump and brackets are engine dependent but am wondering if this would apply to the Australian models.

Sorry for all the questions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Corin

I saw an ad for a 4wd set up from ftrucksaustralia yesterday and they wanted $3600 plus fitting so you should maybe try to get some parts from another Ford to adapt. My 4WD has a 75 series toyota box on it as these are far cheaper than F100 boxes. If you can get some other type of box you can just get an itermediate steering shaft machined which will also be far cheaper than buying the whole Ford kit.

Thanks for the reply OzFTrucker, $3600 !?!?! I might investigate the Jap brands for the box, sounds like it would work out alot cheaper. Kinda used to the manual steering now anyway :-)

The old strongarm steering can get the better of you eventually though...

Hi guys,
There is a shop in Sydney that sells a kit using a Toyota Dyna box, don't know how much they want for the kit though. They quoated me $1600 exchange for my 84 F350. That is a used Fseries box, drag link pitman arm pump and brackets etc and I give them back my armstrong box
