Dave, is this one going into the same truck?

Crazz 05-20-2006 09:24 PM

ahhh man, hate to here that dude, im going to start looking around and buy all the engines i can for your truck. i no you have mastered the install now lol. so we can have a pair and a spare. i'll get some pics of my latest truck in a few days.

Dave Sponaugle 05-23-2006 10:36 PM

Well I am almost disassembled, tomorrow night the oil pan comes off to inspect the bottom end.

I have been tossing the thought of getting another truck around.
Bad thing is there seems to be few trucks around that have what I am looking for.

I am still not sure I want another payment to have make either.

There is a 97 XLT Stroke 350 4x4 dually crew cab 5 speed with only 90,000 on it here that I would buy, but the owner wants to much money for it.
I also found the same truck in a 99 model with 120,000 on it for 1000 dollars more down in Ky.
The 99 model has a lot of goodies on it, and it is a six speed, but it is only an extended cab.

And they would both have a payment book attached to them.

pmasley 05-24-2006 09:33 AM

I hate that payment book. I have one now!

Crazz 05-25-2006 07:08 PM

let us no what you end up doing Dave

Dave Sponaugle 05-26-2006 10:15 PM

I dropped the 6.9 heads off at the machine shop today.
After I get the report on the condition I will be making a decision on whether or not to do the block and how far I will go.

I can see I have valve guide and stem seal problems in the heads.

I am trying hard to not go the payment route, but I am a little tired of swapping motors and bumming rides.
If I go the payment route I am going to try and keep it low.

pmasley 05-26-2006 11:37 PM

I did the same thing, but low payment, NADA. $500 a month is killer on a used vehicle.

Dave Sponaugle 05-27-2006 08:56 AM

I am looking more in the 300 dollar range.
I have no use for a new truck, I am looking 97 or older, although there is a 99 in the classifieds that is tempting.

Crazz 05-27-2006 09:08 AM

haha, i hate the payment books. hope you get it all fixed up dave. i dont think you would be happy driving anything other than the old black beast ;p

Dave Sponaugle 05-27-2006 02:22 PM

I have a DeVilbis and an air compressor, any truck can be a black beast in just a little bit.

pmasley 05-27-2006 02:51 PM

I am sorta attached to my "True Blue" one. Second one I have had that color. Actually the dang thing looks purple at times. The first one was "Midnight Blue Metallic."

Dave Sponaugle 05-27-2006 10:59 PM

The black truck goes with my black Cat hat. To bad my knees hurt so bad, I had to stop wearing the black cowboy boots.
