New Tires

Hey guys!
I'm new to the Utah forum here on FTE. Reason being, is I will be migrating to Utah in June for the summer semester at BYU. There's a few steps that I'm needing to take in order to get ready for Utah winters. I'm from Arkansas, so I'm not really used to snow. I'm not used to snow at all, lol. One of the first big items of concern is my tires. My current tires would need to be replaced within the next year indefinitely, but I'm not leaving Arkansas without new tires. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts.... I was wondering if there were any tires you guys would suggest. Tires are going on my 1999 4x2 Ranger w/ 2.5L & 5spd. I was hoping that I would possibly get another good suggestion from you guys. I want to see all the good options before I decide on a tire. Thanks guys! I'll be joining you shortly!

You should be okay with the Bridgestones. I've always had good luck with BFG ATs. Just throw a couple hundred pounds in the bed, and take is slow and easy. Don't make any quick movements. Might see you in a couple of months.

I have the BFG A/t's as well and have had good experiences with them as well. mjwhip2 summed up driving in the snow, its not too bad as long as your cautious and watch out for the idiots out there.

Thanks guys! I'm still thinking the Duellers would be best for me since I my truck isn't 4x4. I'm glad to hear another good response about the Duellers.

Michellin Cross Terrain SUV's. One of the best tires I have run - and they are great for all year. I have them on a set of 17" wheels I run on the Explorer in winter. The X is lowered, 4x2, and a little strong. I have yet to run into a problem in the snow that the X has had a problem with - and that is running up Parley's Canyon, going up to Alta Ski Resort, etc.

I have been running Michellin LTX's on my 98 Ranger. It is 4x2 also and in winter, I just buy a couple of sand bags from Lowes and throw in the back. Haven't had any problems either.
