Peter's Drive In and A&W/petrocan

Alright i'm back, all finals but one tomorrow are done for the semester.

Now that the nice weather is here i thought that perhaps we could get a weekly meeting place going here in calgary and up in edmonton, just something so we all can get out of the house on a nice evening. For days i was thinking something in the middle of the week, wednesday i think would work well and just whatever time after dinner you feel like showing up, probably 7ish-8ish would be good times to show up, and for a place in calgary, well its gotta be Peter's Drive In :-D, and for edmonton well i know that the Petro Canada/A&W has a weekly gtg already on i believe wednesdays (correct me if i'm wrong), but they generally get a lot of nice cars showing up there too.

SO you guys game for this idea :) I'm gonna make it out there this tuesday, and show up if you wanna come up and BS :).

I might be in, I have to take my little girl in for her 1 year shots on that day, so if she does alright though I would like to hitch up.

Why not meet up at the A&W/ Home Depot on Macleod/Glenmore on wednesday nights in cowtown. The Hotrod and streetrod guys already do this and there is usually 50-100 cool rides there, the truck guys could maybe park together on the far side. :-X10

I knew there had to be a weekly meeting of some sorts here in cowtown, wasn't quite sure of when or where, but now i do :)

So then if its nice on wednesday i think i'll head down that way and try it out, but would any of you guys have a preference speak up, but i think i'll try the A&W out this week if its nice out.

After Willy's closed they had to go somewhere :)

who/where was willy's?

Willys Hamburgers was the wednesday cruise spot for years, it was on Macleod just before Henninger Toyota.
I'll try to swing by A&W on wednesday with my "Hutterite Wagon" . ;)

Willy's HOT ROD cruise night started back in about 1981 at the Willy's Hamburger's Restaurant at the corner of Heritage Dr & Fairmount Dr.

A few years later the old A & W on Macleod Trail at 39 ave became available and he bought that.

The Hot Rod's were the main attraction for years but later on classic car owners meddled into the Cruise night.

I knew we were in trouble when a kid in a 70's Chev of some type parked in the lot and popped the hood up for all to see. ;(

In the late 90's/early 00's the Hot Rod Guys decided to go somewhere else to be alone.

I think Will Danek closed the location in 2003.
I had donated several photos for the walls at Willy's and all of them were put up.

I have pics available of cruise nights of you're really interested :)

Yeah i think i'll make the trip down there then, might have to find somewhere to watch the game though :).

Yeah dennis if you wouldn't mind posting a few links or whatnot of a couple pictures that would be great.

In Edmonton, the White Oaks strip mall on 137ave and 124st is jammed up with shiny cars of all sorts every Friday night. I went there with the CC last week. It peeked about 830, and tailed off after that. I heard the old Beverly A&W is picking up some steam for a cruise destination. They converted it to a Beverly Business Association bldg, but ppl are starting to hang out there again. I also know that the Wendys on....ummmm 75th??? and about 34ave has a meeting every thurs, i believe. If not thurs, it is wednesday. I've gone to petro can on the NE side before, it jams up pretty fast too.

Friday nights in Airdrie at the A & W by the Co-op parking lot on the south end there are usually a bunch of classic cars and trucks.
