My weekend (photos)
Well, this was my weekend, what was yours like?
Went 4x4'ing in the Ranger https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113285.520.390 My neighbour and a few other friends came along too (29 vehicles and 75 people in total). The neighbours mean Range Rover (powered by a blown 5.2l Rover V8) https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113289.520.390 Unfortunately (as is the case in Australia) the vehicles were predominately Nissans and Yota's, with a couple of Land Rovers. There was one other Ford (also a Ranger), oh and a Ford Maverick - essentially a rebadged Nissan Patrol. |
Some of the vehicles as we arrived at the campsite:

The Terrain we encountered wasn't overly difficult:
(A Nissan Navara) https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113282.520.390 (A Land Rover Discovery climbing up to the right - vehicle in Front of us, driven by a character called Alvie, he has to be the only person in the world that wheels a Hoodini) https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113297.520.390 https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113296.520.390 https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113298.520.390 |
Now you saw the trailer the Ranger was towing in the first pic...
:-X03 What else to you do when you are in the middle of nowhere??? Carry an industrial sized bovine cooking machine :-fire https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113120.520.390 In action: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113279.520.390 And create big fires!!! https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113277.520.390 |
We got stopped a couple of times by fuel pump issues on a diesel Series 1 Discovery
The vehicle in question (with lots of manly blokes surrounding it attempting to fix aforementioned problem) https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113119.520.390 Here we are, all banked up waiting for the Discovery: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113117.520.390 Here we are all, at lunch - had great weather for the trip: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113295.520.390 https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...113292.520.390 |
Now the scenery almost makes the beer drinking, meat eating, fireworks and general ruckus worthwhile ;)

My kind of fun. That bovine cooking machine looks like it belongs in the Pacific Nwst. :-D Great pics- thanks!
|
Out of curiosity, where were you at down there? That red soil on the road caught my attention; I remember that stuff when I was there.

The Alpine National Park in Victoria.
Here is a quick map - the red "splodge" in the bottom right corner is about where we camped, and from there we drove over a number of trails in the park. For a point of reference, Benalla is about 160miles North East of Melbourne. |
Please oh please post more pics of that cooker! Being a fabricator I've just got to build one:-D
FABMANDELUX.:-X25 :-fire |

Cheers! |
