Getting started

Ok, I'm in the process of collecting all my parts and equipment to start making Bio.
I have a friend that owns a restaurant that gets rid of 50 galllons of oil a week. I'm going to start with that amount to make sure I can keep up with the collection before I ask any others. He told me that if I want more he can hook me up with other friends in the restaurant business.
I've located a supplier that sells methonal in 55 gallon drums for $158.00 a drum. I'm going to start calling for prices on lye. I would like to use KOH because of the fact that it stays in the liquid form better than NaOH.
What is the shelf name for KOH so I can ask for prices on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

KOH is Patassium(K) Hydroxide(H for hydrogen O for oxygen) Other names is Caustic Potash, Potash is commonly used in fertilizers. I made a test atch the other day, first one for me, and had no problems with solidifying glycerol. The temp outside in the garage was around 50 F but maybe it is diggerent with waste oil i dont know. Im going to make a test batch of some wast oil i have that i used to make french fries a couple of times, so i can practice the titration. I want to start making large batches, but i live in the city limits of a small town with strict fire codes, so i have to meeet with the fire marshall and explain what i am doing. Also i dont know how much methanol i am allowed to store in my garage without a license or what not. Ill probably just end up storing more then allowed or keep it out at my buddies farm house. Have you talked to your towns FD yet? if you have let me know how they responded, i hate being turned down from something, and this is really important to me so any info would help.
