How fast do you drive on the highway?

Around here (Mass Turnpike) the speed limit is 65... I usually cruise just under 75 in the truck... 80 or 85 if I'm in my mom's car... Gas is too expensive to run the truck any faster

What about you guys?

75 and when im passin rigs or somethin i really cant tell you the speedo only goes to 85 then it just starts bouncin around down there at 85 and im still goin.

The open Interstate highways ( I-25 and I-40 ) are 75mph. In my SD I only travel at about 71-2mph with cruise "ON". I still get 14mpg... (MOST other drivers are running 80-90mph). That is no joke either. So...I am in the right lane and getting passed a lot! :-X05

In the city the speed limit is 65mph on the freeways...and I do that. (Most other drivers are in the 75+ mph range). So once again...I am getting passed a lot. :-X05

In my moms car i been rollin down I-10 coming back from houston goin bout 120, only till i hit 120 then i slow it down, car cant really get to 125 like the speedo says i always run out of highway. truck i try to keep it at 70 or below, diesels too expensive. The 85 mark is at about 4 o clock on the speedo and ive taken it down to 6 o clock

I cruise on I-40 between 75 and 80, the speed limit is 70. I wasn't paying attention once and got a ticket for going 87, that slowed me down alot!

Im still wait to just get my permit. Can only go fast on the Pike otherwise theres to many cops hangin around.

In the Ranger, I cruise at 62. That's all she likes to do, nowadays...
My father's car I'll run up to 70-75 depending on traffic, and I'll cruise at up to 80 in either my mother's car or my friends Caddy. All that is dependent on road and traffic conditions, of course. (Speed limit here is 65. Out west, where the limits are sometimes higher, I'll either run at the limit or with the majority of the trucks; hard to know what you'll get a ticket for sometimes...)

i have no ide, none of my trucks have working speedometers... :-D

Workman300 03-10-2006 08:25 PM

I usually stay about 20mph over in my truck unless I'm in town. My last car, '95 Probe GT, was governed at 137mph which sucked because it hit governor TOO fast. It was strange, that car had a speed governor but no rev limiter (missed a gear and the needle went way past the tach, tach ended at 8,000 rpm).

Think about these the next time you consider racing someone or driving after drinking.

I usually drive at around 45-55mph on the highway. then again, most of that is in the company truck, which has a 350 V8 in it too, so I gotta be careful, considering my boss is literally 3 times as heavy as me, and almost a full head taller. mess up his truck, he'd be REALLY mad.

CowboyPenner 03-11-2006 12:38 AM

I set my cruise at 109km/h. I figure that's pretty safe cause everyone else is doin' 120 or better. With those speeds I figure people are always moving away from me which gives me buffer safety zone and I can cruise uninhibited and save gas while I'm doin' it. I'm going to London ON next week and this will be my first long distance trip in my new truck and I'm quite anxious to see how well it does.

I actually get updates from this site in my email. Some pretty wild wrecks.

CowboyPenner 03-11-2006 01:11 AM

I tried to look at their videos and I got a pop up asking to install a program that generates advertising...didn't get to see any video's.
