Ranger Headlamp Adjustment
 

Can someone clue me in on how to adjust the headlamps on a '95 Ranger? I'm lookin' but I'm not seein' anything. Thanks for your help! -Rob

I'm PRETTY sure if you look on the back of the headlights, you'll see little round nuts of sort on the screws coming out the back of the lights. These fit I believe a 1/4 inch socket, just put the socket on the end and tighten or loosen as necessary. It'll make more sense when you see it.

That's how mine are anyways...I don't remember my stock ones but I'd assume they were the same. All 93-97 lights are similar.

Costs about $8 on Ebay. Knob with the correct socket slips over the inside end of the adjuster. Gives you something tu grab and twist without hassling with 1/4 drive ratchet, U joint and small socket and it STAYS on when you let go and walk away to check the light pattern.

Its worth the $8 just to avoid crawling around under the front end looking for that small socket you just dropped...

I dunno I never had a problem with it. At night, back in the garage, point the lights at the neighbors garage, adjust as necessary.

I believe it is a 5/16" wrench or socket. Most Fords are. I just put the diamond headlight assemblies in my 98 (boy what a pain), and had to adjust them.

Anyway, you will see one stud/screw for the up/down adjustment and one for the left/right adjustment.

That was a pain for me as well when I put upgraded headlights on mine. They were Diamond and fog light combos, very sharp, might I add.

I had quite the time aligning mine as well, though once you get the hang of it it goes pretty fast. At least it did for me on my '94.

I didn't realize how far mine we off until I put it up against my fence and saw the left one was pointing up almost above the hood from 10 feet lol.

Mine were pretty high lol, I parked facing in the garage at first and aligned them with the turn signals. Not good, they were WAY up there. Turned around and faced towards my neighbors garage, now they're aligned great!

on my ranger it takes a 4mm socket to fit the screw. i am about to aim my headlights right now

Just do us ALL a favor and leave them a tad bit low. That way when you load the truck they don't blind on coming drivers.

Right, 4mm or 5/32" not 5/16 as someone else stated earlier! The adjuster on the bottom adjusts up/down, and if memory serves me clockwise is beam up and counter is beam down. Top adjuster adjusts side to side.

boy these are miserable *******s to adjust without the tool. Glad I finally found it and ordered it, if I have to pull off those darn slide on clips one more time without changing out a headlamp I'm going to go nuts. It's a Lisle 14540 that I ordered for my 2000 ranger.
