Compatibility / Interchangability Guide for Ford Radios -- is there such a thing?

Hi:
I have a 2002 F250 with a 6 Disc Player that has gone bad. I want to replace it with a Cd Cassette Player that I think may be less prone to problems (less moving parts).
My problem is, in my search I have found (on the internet) people who are selling units know nothing about compatibilty and often don't provide a clear picture of the side and rear of the unit to determine if it has the same harness plug and mounting bracket as is required for my truck.
Is there a source (internet site) that a person could use to check radio model numbers for compatibility with existing wiring harnesses / mounting brackets already installed in a specific Ford?

I think this would help a lot of people.
Also, if it is not available, one of you radio guru's with web sites could get a lot more hits on your sites if you made or tied a site like this to yours!

Thanks

I'd look at Crutchfield for the aftermarket adaptors that convert your aftermarket radio signals to the speakers and amp and stuff. If it lists one adaptor for all types of radios, they are all the same. I know that seems complicated, do you get what I mean? If it lists the same part number for the 6 disc changer and cd/cassette player, it'll work.

Call Kelvin at Broadway Radio shop. My old employer. They are and authorized Ford radio service center. They would know. 816-753-1960

I found a site: "Radios and More"

http://209.238.89.122/product_Spec_S...18c815-ab&RB=1

Where you can get the specs for a CD / Cassette / Radio -- the address above can be altered to match your radio -- the one above is for my 6CD radio in my F250. I called the store and he said if the plug type, harness repair kit and attachment device are the same, they are compatable. Thus, I now know that any Ford that had a 5L5T-18C868-AA can also plug in my 1c3f-18c815-ab and Visa Versa. The site also lists the Fords that the radios were iinstalled in, but this does not mean the list is all the radio will fit in -- the list is just the production years they were factory installed.

I'll have a look at the site you mentioned and see if I can learn more -- Thanks!
