I just heard of a 351 a few days ago. I'll look and see where it's at....

I bought an NP435 from a guy in town two weeks ago, he asked me if I knew anyone who was in need of a strong 351w which was in this same truck that I got the tranny from. I'll see if it's still available.

I would appreciate it guys! I bought my 85 for $200.00 with some wiring problems and a bad oil leak. Well I pulled it down and was just going to do bearings and seals, but found some stuff I didnt want to see. Needless to say, owning 2 fullsize broncos isnt easy so Im trying to get away with a good motor as cheap as possable.

I called the Guy and he said the Motor is still available and he would get back with me...... tic - tic - tic........ still waiting for him to call me back, I give him a friendly reminder in the morning,

I talked to "the contact" today - Here's the skinny.

351 M - Put up in a garage running. Has sat for a while but should be good $75.00.

351 W - Strong Motor just removed from a running Truck (I now own the NP435) $550.00. Located in Shelbyville Tn.

I spoke with the owner of the "W" engine today. The engine does have a performance cam in it as well as some trick heads.. He told me what they were but I can't exactly recall what he said. But I do know that he did say that he could break the tires loose in third gear (NP435, Really 2nd gear) , It's got an edlebrook manifold and many other tricks on it. Rebuilt not too many miles ago. I think he'll budge on the price.

Where is Shelbyville?

looks a little too far for a good deal, from Bartlett!

I'll keep that in mind USCGC, Im kinda hoping that my tax return will be more than enough for me to build the original 351 that came out of it. I can have everything here and done (machine work) for 700+tax, but then you have to add the other "small" items like water pump, fan clutch..The list can grow rapidly. Im still lookin at machine shops though, Ive had a few bad experiences with them.

maples01 01-29-2006 11:42 PM

I've used 2 shops here in Murfreesboro, I trust bot, but think the one who did my cam bearings may be priced better, guys who turned my crank hit me hard for a .010 turn.

BigBroncoXLT 01-30-2006 12:32 PM

Whats the names of them?

maples01 01-30-2006 03:49 PM

Mikes Speed Shop, and Mid South Precision Inc, the guy at Mid South I believe is cheaper, but Mikes is basically for gas engines, they don't do other machine work. There are many near the square in the Boro, I just liked the look of Mid South and the people, after talking with them.
