there is a bumper hieght, a headlight hieght, and a tire width laws
I believe the bumper hieght is no more than 26"s from the ground
and the tire one can be solved with mud flaps/flares

I know in an old magazine I read, 1984, it said no more than 4 inches above stock bumper and suspension height. I'd recomend going to your local license store and checking out there.

The bumber height law is 26" for 1/2 and 3/4tons and 28" for 1tons. I think there is also something in the law that says a vehicle can only be six inches higher than stock including tires.

as I recall the law reads you canot change ride hieght more than 3 inches throught the use of tires or lift kits headlights can be no more than 48 inches off the ground measured at the bottom of the headlight trucks must have a front bumper and a rear bumper unless it was optional equipment at the time the truck was new, like on my 75 it was an option

also, the bumper's need 4 points of contact.

I don't know how up to date this is but it will give you some idea of the law.

There was an article in FOUR WHEELER magasine about this a while back... In MN there are laws for the headlights and bumpers. Suspension isn't supposed to be more than 6" higher than stock. Body lift doesn't matter. Tires are supposed to be covered. I don't think many cops enforce these rules, I was never pulled over or even questioned about having my rear bumper too high and tires sticking out a ways from the flares on my lifted cherokee...

From personal experience, the only laws the police seem to care about are bumper height and wheels sticking out of the wheelwells.
