4.0L engine specs.

Does anyone know what year the 4.0l was moved up to 207hp? I hear the 97' only had 160.

It was definately between 2000 or 2001 just can't remember which of the two that 4.0l went to 207hp. Which ever year the Ranger edge was introduced.

I just checked into it and it was 2001 that the 4.0l hit 207hp.

Yer talking about 2 different versions of the engine.

1989-1999 4.0 pushrods were 160hp
1997-2005 4.0 SOHC are 207hp.

There actually have been about 12 different blocks for these engines since '89 but the advertised horsepower has remained the same for both versions.

My 1993 4.0. Headers, cold air intake and Granatelli MAF. Rear wheel HP dyno runs.

Those years are for the Explorer. For Rangers, the pushrod 4.0L was offered up through 2000 with the 4.0L SOHC beginning in 2001 to date.

I don't know about there, but in Australia the OHV came in the manual gearbox until 2001 and the SOHC came in the auto from '96 onwards.
