Proud New Owner But...
I just bought a Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4.6L V8. I am sure that this has been discussed a million times, however I have been through four tanks of gas and haven't gotten over 325 miles per tank. Does the engine have to break in before it will get better gas mileage? I had read in this forum before I bought that people were getting at least 15 with no mods.
To give you an idea of my driving, the first tank I didn't race the engine once, and didn't accelerate to barely past 2K RPM, on the second tank, I still didn't race the engine, and tried to accelerate a little faster but never really breaking 2.5K or 3K RPM's... and the last two tanks a combination of both. When I fill up its just shy of 28 gallons. Any thoughts? I know its a truck and i don't expect to get 20 mpg, however, I wouldn't mind 15/18 like the sticker said... :-D |
My new Ranger I bought said the mileage will increase after 5,000 miles. I'm constantly checking, it seems to be getting better than when I First drove it off the lot. (6500 miles now)
