some biodiesel questions
 

I did a search and my results weren't all that clear as to the answer I was lookin for so...


Can I run 100% biodiesel in my 01 7.3 or do I have to mix it? In what ratio should I mix it?



next question... anybody used this http://www.dieselsecret.com ? I figure it wouldn't hurt to try it, but it sounds a little risky. Anythoughts? any help is appreciated :-X22

100% biodiesel is great for the trucks. it really treats the injectors. the only thing stopping most of us from using it is the high price. but hey if you got it, go ahead and spend it on the truck! :)

what about that DSE stuff?

Stay away from the Diesel secret, waste of money and a great marketing ploy. I am currently running B100 in my truck, have 3000 miles on it and loving it!!!!!, I recommend getting a few extra fuel filters before you run it though. It is recommended that you change your fuel filter after the first tankfull, and if its really dirty after the second one too. Mine was actually spotless could have put it right back in. I didn't but I do keep an extra one in the truck all the time anyway. Momma's new Excursion ( new to us anyway) will be on B100 next week!! Go for it.

I was considering bio, but was enable to locate it locally and was also shocked at the price. I was under the misunderstanding that bio would be less the dino. The one place I was able to find bio (about 50 miles frome home) b20 was 20 cents higher then dino and b100 was $5 a gallon.

I think the owners manual says not to run more than 5% bio. Not stating an opinion, just putting it out there.

STAY AWAY FROM DSE!!!! Not only will it ruin your engine, but is dangerous to mix!!! PURE SNAKE OIL. If your warranty is up use it, there's a LOT of people using it. FABMANDELUX.

From what I have researched today, the stuff is a blend of a lot of things, unleaded gas to be one of them. Its also got some other stuff which I will post the links up to the msds when I find that link.


From what I've heard... I cant tell you whether its good or not. I can tell you it will not run exactly like pure bio. But it does work. Long mileage tests are not in yet, so I cant tell you how reliable it is, but things are lookin up. So thats what I've seen so far.

I plan on using this stuff in my 7.3 in maybe a 50-50 mix, also I dont want to use the DSE stuff, I will use one of the alternatives that will indubitably be cheaper.

My truck has outlived its warranty. So I figure if I mix it itll save me some money and shouldn't hurt my engine in that ratio

best suggestions i have is trying to make your own; mines at .93/gal, but i get my waste oil pre-filtered for .33/gal...but i wouldn't run it in any DI Ford- that includes yours...IDI is the safest bet. I base this on information you can find online from valid research (Univ. Missouri and Idaho). They had issues with DI diesels, but that was at B100...so B50 might be a OK...and yes DSE is a joke...can you say "snake oil"?

On second thought, screw it, its not worth the risk, Ill save some more money and set up my own stuff.
