Has Anybody Bought Gasoline In Mexico?

Has anybody purchased gasoline in Mexico? The reason I'm asking is that my family and I are going to Rocky Point for a few days, and from what I understand, gas is cheaper there. I heard it is not a good idea to buy gas in Mexico as it can lead to problems with the vehicle. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I've purchased gas in Mexico before many times and never had a problem. When I was living in AZ, I made many trips down there (rocky point, el gulfo, etc) and never had any issues with their gas, just make sure to stick with the bigger stations. I can't remember the names of them but when you see a nice gas station (by nice I mean not a mud hut), don't pass it up! Make sure and fill up right before you cross the border, and when you get back, run a tank of super unleaded through it just to be on the safe side.

thanks for getting back to me on this. In Rocky Point there are the PEMEX gas stations which are kept up real well. I'll use them if I need to get some fuel. Thanks again.

That's the one I'm thinking about, I believe it's green in color right? Anyways, just stick with them and you'll be fine.

Not sure what the color of the place is, green could be it. It has been a few years since I've been to Mexico.

I bought Diesel there last March and had NO problems. The only thing that was confusing was that it was sold in liters and pesos. They figured it out and it was MUCH less than I thought it would be. I paid and took off thinking "Watch them pull me over for not paying them enough money and spend 6 mouths in a Mexican jail". It turned out fine and I'll be getting another fill there in March again. My Uncle who lives in Tuson said his friend buys all of his Diesel in Mexico. It is definatly cheaper in price. To bad I live like 700 miles away.
