New leader with a few ?s
 

I'm the new leader of the Missouri chapter and have a few questions. How will I know when someone new tries to join the chapter, I'm not sure if this is automated yet. When they do what do I do to make them a new member? It says that the leader will be provided with the tools to seek out new members on the forums what are these or do you just do the member search using your state? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did read the thread at the top of the forum, but I still wasn't very clear on these matters.

Hi slmann. Here are a few answers that I have or experienced.

We are suppose to have a listing in our CP that show people that have joined our chapter and then we can click on the accept/decline button. I havent had that turned on for me yet but give it time. These guys are pretty busy so I am in no hurry. What I did was went into Member List then Advance Search. From there I set the peramiters (bad spelling) to look for all Alaska FTE memebers. I then copied and paste all of the AK members showed into an excell document and seperated that document alphebeticly (typing that late a night). I then created a welcome letter and sent that out to everyone on the excell document via PM or Email. Yep it took some time. That was 9 months ago. I need to do an update and catch new AK members. Hope that helps. You can also start a thread in the Missouri Section like, "Introduction for New Members". We have that at the top and I get a few per month that sign in there.

Thanks for the info that helps out. I know these guy's are really busy but thought I would ask in here and maybe get some info from other leaders.

When you have been activated, you will see on the list on the left of your user CP an option for chapter memberships. Then you will go to a screen that shows any new requests. It unfortunately is not automated yet, you have to look in once in a while to see if any members have requested. Hopefully in time it will have some kind of notification, but at this time it does not. Once you have officially been entered in the system, your name will show up under the forum entry button, and when you look in your user CP, under chapter memberships, (that you yourself are a member) it will show you as leader of the chapter, rather than a member. Right now, if you were to look, it will show you are a member of the Missouri chapter. Later, it will show you are the leader. With Ray gone, and all that is going on, it is hard to say how long of a wait it will be. I'm actually surprised you aren't already taken care of there, MLB, but things have gotten crazy lately...

Another way you will know that it has been taken care of, there will be a forum visible to you just above the general chapter forum that is not visible to everyone...

Just checked and still the same. You are not talking about the Premium Members section are you that just above the General? I'm not in a hurry.

No, there is a chapter leader forum right above the general chapter, that way we leaders can discuss things without getting sidetracked by well meaning members that may not agree with what is said. Admin can also tell us rules they may want enforced there.That doesn't happen very often, but it is a method. You won't see it until activated.

Hmm okay guy's i'll look into getting these features activated for you, sorry about not getting back to you all right away i've been down in Biloxi for the past week and a half helping out and im playing catch up right now ;)
