BioDiesel

I would like to make my own biodiesel! Has anyone done this and successfully ran it in their 2001 7.3 Turbo Excursion!

What do I need to know before going down this path?

I am also looking into this. I purchased a how-to manual, and am in the process of crabbing together the parts needed to make the bio-diesel brewing machine. Hoping this will run well in my 99 f-350 7.3. lol.

Going to add a home heating oil tank to the mix, for storage purposes.

Anyone else? May we profit by your experience? :)

Peace!

search fuel meister on google. Saw it on trucks I think we are going to get it with the prices going up and up. Comes out to 70 cents a gallon when you make it.

Oh and it is $3,000 by the way.

I thought about getting into this but then it hit me. The french Fry oil is a hazardous waste. Someday these used oils will not be readily available once the enviromental people step in. Just imaging what would happen when you are transporting 55 galons of this stuff home and get in a accident. OOOPS Here comes hazmat. I realy don't think the automobile insurance would cover this.

Yes, if enough people want it done, we can vote them out of existance. When I went to school to get my cert, there was stories about EPA treading too heavily on the public and they had to pull back due to the outcry. The trouble was when the cars had to be emission checked and there were too many failures. The offices were jammed with angry citizens needing to get their license tabs renewed.

i suspect that if the people in this country really understood how bad they have made things for us... there would be a HUGE outcry against them... i have some hope this may happen, but i think it would take gas hitting $5 a gallon or more for enough people to want to know why and want some heads to roll.. then of course they would have to learn the truth... there is not a lot of chance of that happening... sad to say... we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks... this isn't over by a long shot... if gas keeps going up $.25 a day like it did today... we might actually see something happen...

Steve_250 09-01-2005 07:47 PM

Johnny, problem with that is, the price very well may go up to 5 smackers a gallon.
Then we'll get the reprieve and they'll lower it to 4 bucks a gallon.
Oh boy, gee, thanks.
Just paid 2.60 a gallon at Dulles Airport Exxon.
Hasn't gone up in two weeks.
Gas is 2.92 for regular.
Gosh, I feel like I'm saving money.

Another week or so and it will be worth making the trip for bio.
Hopefully, someplace closer will start selling it.

johnny8 09-01-2005 07:54 PM

i know what you mean steve... the people running around here complaining aboutgas over $3 a gallon are the same people who were ragging on me a month ago saying "isn't diesel supposed to be cheaper than gas... not anymore man... haha..!".... now i'm $.20 per gallon cheaper, and that will probably get worse... the demand for gas is much higher than the demand for diesel... jmo

I'm just curious what will happen to the price of bio.
I realize 80/20 (80% dino/20% bio) may go up but 100 should stay stable because it's 100% soy.

Gee, maybe then, veggie burgers (soy) will get expensive!
Glad I'm a mean eater!
Now lemme' go kill a cheap arse chicken.

johnny8 09-01-2005 08:10 PM

don't count on that... if they can sell 100 bio for more, they will...
