What's yours, mine's a 351 modified, nothing wild, just RV cam, edelbrock intake, Holley 4 barrel, and headers. I have the strip and build on my cardomain site, I couldn't get mine over the front, so I had to remove the radiator suppost to go in.

Greywolf 08-07-2005 12:04 AM

302, edelbrock RPM, dynomax headers (pretty black paint lasted ten minutes after it was lit off), Holley 650, and a bone stock duraspark II ignition!

- You have the yard wide intakes and exhaust ports then, I built one once. Some people swear the modified Clevester don't exist. Four bolt main, right?

PS: ONE of the headers had to come of to stuff it, didn't matter which one.

Shorty down-drops would have been a better choice (they argued with the tranny mount cross member)

maples01 08-07-2005 12:14 AM

Nope, 2 bolt mains, the 351/400 modified is basically a Cleveland block design, but 1 inch taller, that made the 400 the longest stroke engine Ford made. The valves are huge, close to touching, heads flow great without touching them, the intake, exhaust manifolds, and cams choked them to death. None have ever had the bottom come apart, but suffer main bearing damage under high RPM's, there is a quick fix for it, only required if racing, you'll not starve the bottom on normal use.

Greywolf 08-07-2005 12:22 AM

The one I built came with a 73 Grand Torino.
it was four bolt, factory 4bbl. ports were huge....

maples01 08-07-2005 12:36 AM

That would be a 351 Cleveland, the 351 Modified is different.

Greywolf 08-07-2005 11:13 PM

Ah, nope. It was a Cleveland block to be sure, but it was definately a 351M. Half a dozen machinists looked it over at the time, and wanted to know if I'd sell it.

I wish I had kept that machine.

A lot of people have said the 351M doesn't exist, but if you spy a 73 Torino with a 5th digit "Q" in the vin number - that's the one!

my almost pristine interior, damn butt groove is ruining it

When i bought her i took this picture the very next day in our field
https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal.../53999.520.390

Knocked alot of dents out, and done alot of work to her, engine is almost buttoned up for good, rear main is next weekend, i hope.

Then i'm painting her this fall and getting a new bed and front fenders and wheels.

Wolf, that big ole truck had a V6 at one point?

Yeppir! It looked kind of lost down in there...
Swapping in a 302 was an adventure - the frame saddles had to be changed for the small block engine mounts. It also had a radiator that didn't belong in it (the V6 was at least stock).

If I remember right, the parts store got me a radiator for a 460. Triple core...

Brake master and vac booster are new, as is the power steering gearbox.

C5 tranny swapped for a C6, and is about to get traded out for an AXOD.

Rear axle was 5 on 4 and a half, swapped it out for an 8.8 with the 5 on 5.5 bolt circle at the same time as the tranny. This still leaves me with the original front end and small lug nut circle up front which I was going to swap out next. But then I came home from the navy and all chaos busted loose...

It'll take some horse trading, but I'll get it all done.

I still have the original engine. It's been untouched since I changed duty stations and went across country. 'Been meaning to rip it down someday, it ran - but not on all six! :)

DT 466Man 08-08-2005 02:20 PM

is it a 4wheel? i don't see the front pumpkin,

fooled me i had to take a closer look.

That's a good looking truck.

when my 8.8 takes a dump i'm going to a 10.25 sterling and putting 8 lug D50 knuckles on the front to match.

but i'm not planning on it for years, Once i finish it this fall, right finished, it will be a weekend truck and a date truck, a pampered back up to my future F350. But i want to get the bed rhino lined, It will be my toy drive it when i want some fun... or just for the heck of it. Take it on the Hot Rod power tour, take my girlfriend around town in it. that kinda truck. It will still get worked though, winter 4X4 pulling stuck stuff out of ditches, spring hauling landscaping stuff to the house, fall same as spring. Hell a daily driver if you will, but a backup. I love it too much to let it sit so i'll probally drive it 40% of the time.

So each day i'll get to choose which one to drive.

It's hard to explain... it will be a special truck to me atleast.. it will be a_______truck

I think you know what i mean i don't have words to explain what i mean.

Yes it will be used off road and on road. I'll use it the same i do now, but i'll leave the stuff it could get dents to the F350. But other than that.... It's my baby... my first truck.. i ain't ever selling it. no reason to. paid for, and i'll have another truck too, plus my ranger drag truck.

I ramballed on a little too much

Your truck looks tough wolf.

I need to get a shroud for my radiator, it busted when my wife went to put it back in, was hanging by a thread. The radiator used with the modified engines is for the big blocks, I want an oil cooler though, you can never have enough.
