Molly 08-03-2005 05:50 PM

never heard of a ford 292 dist. with a door??

Don't recall about the Ford, but the GM (oops) distributor had a door on the side that allowed you to adjust point gap with an allen wrench while running. (Back when cars had points!).

Sure it isnt for a tach or governor? Bigger trucks had them both available.

sounds like the oil cup door, small, round, spring loaded? lots of early distributors had them, for the upper bushings
