it wasn't out front, they had us off the main road, I set it up through the ranger, he called the news and paper on us, they showed up when we got back to unload. He was estatic because they had people caught dumping schedualed to come out to clean or go to jail, only 2 of them showed, then he had volunteers, no of which lived in that county. I have it on a disc, where we were on chanel 2 news.
If we had enough guys with trucks, and trailers to help get the junk off the property, they'd offer us near any use of the park for free, pavilians are nice. Guy offered to let me ride my quad around on their property, which is against the law, he was going to give me a sticker. |
There are a lot of possibilities in that.
Is it still going on? |
I just would have to call or go down there and talk with the guy, they'll accept any volunteer work to clean up the park where idiots are illegally dumping, sad part is no one in the town will volunteer. It's a nice place, it isn't too far from me, if I weren't disabled I'd volunteer myself, but all I can do is drive the truck.

It looks like a nice place, we should do something.
You can drive, and in a while my hand will heal and I can load. Next is how to git me there. |

This is a good idea if we can gather several people together to volunteer. We will need a large truck or 2 & a couple drivers driver. |
Maples can drive, if I can get out there thats one team right there....
If I can afford to bring my truck it'd be cool. Gas is nasty priced tho. I was planning on using this week to drop in a better tranny, but got smacked with an injury. |
I have a F-150 LWB with a tool box, I took my van and pulled a trailer last time, I need to rig a reciever for a drop hitch on the truck. I could get some wood to put in the stake holes, put plywood on it and go for broke, I fear no scratches, need to snag a trailer.

Just how big IS the mess?
|
Haven't a clue, the one site we took out filled a 5x12 trailer, took my wife and 2 other guys not an hour to get it, rain stopped us from going to another, I haven't a clue on how many that are made, but has to be serious since it made the news, that's what gave me the idea. What it is, is people pull off the road on the property and empty out their vehicle, others see it and add on, pretty sad, the parks don't have the funds to clean up these messes and the end result, causes some to close.

State and national parks are notoriously under funded.
This might go nation if not WORLD wide. FTE helping parks get things done - we can make a connection with it that would make us welcome wherever we go... |

How big are these sites? Are they easily accessable for clean-up vehicles? Are these camp sites or trails? Perhaps I should send a email off to them & see what they would think about it. |
Lookit, if we make a point of this - it could lead to fame...

If we get this thing going, I will make sure you & your truck are involved. Trust me, I want to meet you & will make sure your there. |
Wasn't the regular park guys I dealt with, the guy is across the street from the entrance, definately set it up ahead of time, so they can get a dumpster. They are places where people pull off and toss out junk, I'm sure there are some large ones, that one just was that size, you know how people are, if they see a place to toss out junk, they'll do it. Had it not been the rainy time of the year, it would have been simpler to get in, I had to hitch the trailer to one of the guys 4x4 trucks, my van had an LS, but a nonpowered front axle will not steer in the slick mud.
If we get serious interest, I'll give the guy a call, last time only 2 people from our group showed, of coarse more interest was showed at the topic, than the day of. More people and vehicles will make clearing up faster, I could ride down and get someone to show me what and where during the week. It's not on the campsites that I've seen, it's on the roadsides. |
The place is about 20 minutes from me.
