Seat Interchange

I did a search and really did not see an answer on the first few pages. I have a 79 F-250 with a bench seat. I have a bad back and want something a bit more comfortable. I need to carry 3 in the front sometime so I need another bench seat. Is there anything from a newer Ford truck that is a direct bolt in? I can always modify something but if there is something that is an easy swap I would like to go that route and just look for a certain color. Thanks

All of ford's frames were stamped with all the different seat combinations(bench, bucket, ect...) from 73-86. I've heard some newer model explorer seats swap in, but I'm not sure about that one.

Thanks I will look for something up to 86.

I have seen guys take seats out of a super duty bench seats with lumbar suport backs, but I don't know how much mods are needed, and I don't remember who did it.

Does anyone know IF super duty seats will fit, I've seen someone do it on here, but don't remember who???

I heard of a few guys that said all the seats upto 1996 could be used. I have never done it, but was thinking of upgrading mine too. The '76 seat...although good for the day, is getting tired...along with my back. :-X21

i have a bench seat out of a 1992 in my 1979, bolted right in. It came out of a standerd cab truck. No lumber suport, but had a arm rest that folds up for 3rd person seating. hope this helps

Seats will inter change from 73-97. 96-97 have to be out of a F250HD the old body style. I have done it all you have to do is bolt the 70s slide rails to the newer seat. Its a bolt in deal no holes to drill no nothing.

Will the rear seat from the 80-96 crew cab bolt directly into the back of a 73-79 crew cab?? Also, could one bolt TWO sets of front benches into a crew cab without modification?

Im not sure but the rear seat in a 73-79 is the same as the front so maybe the rear in a 80-97 is too.

I have the rear seats from a 93 crew cab in the front of my regular cab truck. fit with no modification, just like all the others.

I have the jump seats in the back of my 76 ext. cab and hate them. Is there any other years that I can use for a bench for my truck?

Talk about a thread revival!

Some of the 76-79 models came with a fold down bench seat...if you cant find one then one out of an 80's Ext. cab may work with a bit of tweaking.

so if i have a 1977 ford f250 I can put the seat from my 95 f150 in it. Its the one with the big fold down armrest that can be pushed up for a third seat. Also keep in mind that i have the in cab fuel tank. I want bucket seats but don't know what would work the best

You should be able to.

Just use the 77's seat tracks
