Anyone need a set of FREE gas shocks?

I haven't posted in quite awhile (I was finishing my 2nd Degree at Dunwoody), but I did read a few threads here when I had the chance. Nice to see some new "faces" as well as some of you "old timers".

Anyway, I still work at Cotten's NAPA, part-time on the weekends, and last fall I did some suspension work to my truck, part of which was replacing all 4 shocks on my Arizona-based '92 F150 (I gotta get some pics on here...). The shocks I took off were new when I bought the truck in AZ (135,000 miles), and I replaced them with Monroe Reflex shocks at 148,000 miles. The shocks were too good to just toss out so I just held onto them. Today, July 4th, I ran across them in garage (D'oh!), and figured I'd put them on here for the first taker.

I don't know the manufacturer (I could figure it out at NAPA, though), but the specs on the shocks are this:

-Front shocks: #85729
-Rear shocks: #85963
-What they fit (I have the Monroe catalog right here):
Ford Bronco (full size), 80-96,
Ford Pickup, F series, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton 2WD, 80-96,
Ford Pickup, F series, 1/2 ton, 4WD, 80-96.
Ok, the shocks are used, as-is, but they look good and don't leak (I can get some pics of them if you are interested). I only replaced them 'cuz, quite frankly, when you can buy parts at 10% over cost, why the hell not?

If you want them, send me an email or reply here (I'll try and check back!) and they're yours- first come, first served. I live in Maple Grove, and, no, I don't really want to ship them anywhere 'cuz they're kinda heavy, you know?

Nice to post here again! Hope I can contribute some more soon.

Jim

I went to Dunwoody between 98 and 2000. Sounds like thats a whole different school now. I went for machine tool technology. Almost a waste of time in my case cause the shop I work for hires people off the street that can't even read a micrometer. Well, I shouldn't say that, i'm just being bitter that all the management is pretty much clueless to what goes on in the shop. Are you still able to get down under the school and see the pilings falling apart? The had a whole bunch of jacks pretty much holding the school up. I kinda miss those old days. I feel old now.

This was my 2nd trip through, the first was when I graduated in '95 from the HVAC Service program. Back then, yeah, the school was still held-up by those giant screw jacks, and it was pretty cool going down there. I guess back in the late '60's, early '70's they actually had a gun club and range down there, but the when the building started to sink (it's on a landfill, you know), they had to put the kabosh on the whole thing.

Now, within the last few years, they have totally dug it out and there are offices and storage under there. When Bill Jordan quit as head of the HVAC Dept. in '99 or so and took on the duties of managing the physical plant, well, things have really been sprucened-up. As for the politics and how things have changed over the years, let me put it to you this way:

Remember the rabbit named "Thumper" from Bambi? Do you remember when he said, "If you can't say nuthin' nice, don't say nuthin' at all"?

I really respect Dunwoody, but they've changed, and that's all I care to say about it online.

BTW, do you need some shocks?

:)

i could use a set of new shocks, i still have the originals on my 94 F-150, and they're in need of replacement. I live near Brainerd, but will be down in Edina on the 17th of September. Thx

Good news and bad news...

The good news is that I still have the rear shocks!

The bad news is that I tossed the front shocks in the trash about 2 weeks ago due to lack of interest, sorry.

If you are still interested in just the rear shocks drop me a PM (private message).

Jim
