biodiesel rebate
 

Just got a check from my fuel supplier for a rebate on biodiesel blend fuels.

This is what the letter in part says.

On January 1, 2005 the federal government started a 2 year program to encourage the sale of biodiesel products.

We at XXX energy company are sending a one time rebate to you, which is equal to one cent per percent of Soydiesel blend per gallon purchased from January 1 , 2005 to April 30, 2005. For example if you purchased B20 or 20% biodiesel you receive 20 cents per gallon purchased.

Beginning 1 May 05 the price reduction will be figured into the price of the fuel.

I thought this is a great program and hope everyone can try out the B2 or B5 fuel. I know I have like the fuel. :-X22

Ford doesn't recommend biodiesel to be used in the 6.0L.

According to Grand Ledge Ford service department I can use up to B5 with NO warranty problems. I checked before purchase and they showed me the ford position on this. Broadcast msg 0884, 3626

The Ford allowance is max B5.

I have run B100 with no ill effects.

Problem is Bio leaves deposits on the injectors, the healtier the dose, the more deposits.

What type of deposits?

Good question Tim. I too am curious, what type of deposits does it leave on the injectors?

It's hard to keep track of all the things you come across concerning biodiesel, SVO, WVO, etc.
It's your choice, your warranty. I'm sure if this stuff is the miricle elixor it's made out to be, Ford wouldn't too concerned about it.

Ah ...nice try at discrediting biodiesel with a clever adjective.
The truth is that the original diesel engines ran on biodiesel or rather what was the most available fuel of the time.
IE, vegetable oil diesel as petroleum didn't become the mainstay for several years yet.
People act like using biodiesel is some hippy progresive thing and actually its not.
Its coming full circle on the energy cycle.

I thought the deposits were the result of other contaminants (already present from petroleum diesel) being flushed out by the biodiesel. If everything gets cleaned out before the biodiesel is introduced you're supposed to be OK. Anyone else remember reading this?

IMO there is nothing wrong with running Bio....now how much % is still a bit in the air...we know what Ford recommends, that is cool...however where is the % you start to see a noticeable difference in both performance and overall reliability on ALL parts.

Remember the 6.0 is a new form of diesel ,,,,does that make a difference, for discussion purposes….would we think different if we all were talking 7.3

Well not to pop your bio-diesel bashing bubble but if anybody would reserch this they would find out the truth. When the diesel engine was invented is was designed to run on peanut oil. Diesel invented this engine so the farmers who where going to be useing it could produce their own fuel. It wasn't untill years and years later when the oil company found out that diesel fuel was a by product of refineing gasoiline. Of course the oil companys don't want you to know that a diesel engine will run on things other than their diesel fuel. There are documented cases of people running on B100 which is 100% soy and others running on veg. and used cooking oil with no ill effects. Fords stand on it is very conservitive with the B5 and the only problem they did find is useing B100 that the injectors would fail at the tip on a few engines. There was no other problems running B100 and there have been no problems running B5 as to date.
So you can say want you want and bash bio-diesel all you want but facts are facts and please get them straight before you offer info on something you know nothing about.

What's slightly odd is that injectors fail "a few" 6.0's including models that have never run biodiesel so i', not sure what point that validates?
I'm not sure if you support the use of biodiesel or not by your post.

I stated that early diesels ran off vegetable oil but you clarified peanuts as the source.
Are peanuts a vegetable?

Anyway, do you know if Ford was using the same source for B100 in their tests?
