Propane/Fuel 79 F-250

Anyone have a propane/fuel kit on there truck. If so does it work fine, there is a 79 F-250 for sale this weekend with a propane kit installed, If the truck price is right I'll bring it home because $1.20 propane looks a lot better than $2.25 fuel. I was told this truck can run on propane or fuel with a flip of a switch I think this will be kind of different to have.

They work fine as long as the engine is tuned properly.

Check with your insurance company about a propane vehicle.

There are locales where with Propane Fueled vehicles and Parking in an attached Garage or something ,they have special rules for those.

I had a 1991 Chev van that ran soley on propane. It had an electronic unit to trick the computer into burning propane.

I've heard horror stories from people who, in the early years of using propane, (1980's or so) where dual fuel was a poor choice, because the vehilces didn't have a computer, thus it was using only a mechanical device (the distributor) to adjust the timing when they switched from one fuel to the other. Neither fuel got them good gas mileage nor good starts in a cold winter. It might be that you should run it on propane only.

On the other hand I've heard people say their truck runs fine on both fuels if their truck has a computer.
