Thought I Bought an Econoline but It's a Falcon
 

Well I hauled a van up to Canada. Got to Oregon and discovered it's a Falcon. 1966 even ... windows and mechanical side step. I'll probably need some help with a whole bunch of things. Is there truly a huge difference between the two besides insignia?

The passenger (window) versions of the van where call the Falcon from '62 (I think) to '66). Station Bus, Club Wagon and Deluxe Club Wagon

The van versions were called Econoline.

'61 and before and '67 on, everything was an Econoline.

You could get an Econoline with the full window option, but it did not have the rear seats and no headliner or floor covering behind the front seats.

I might be off a little on my dates.

Well I trailered the beast up and started tearing it apart. It was DOA but after basically staring over from the top I got it running. Fuel pump was toast. Carb was toast. Timing marks so far off I couldn't see them etc etc. The truck seems to have waited for somebody like me though. Once it was tweaked, tuned, vacuum hoses replaced, questionable wiring addressed etc etc all it seems to want to do is run... starts on 1/2 crank even when frigid. Full manual choke on for just an instant ... jeez.

I swear it was used as a fish smoker for a while. I cleaned it out forever and when I was done started again. When that was done I started again. What was what I thought was an ivory or bone interior paint is actually white! I get to start again real soon ...

One question though, I don't have the original manual so I have to ask ... where was the wiper fluid bag/resevoir located? It seems to have been converted from the foot pump to an electric but where was/is the resevoir?

Thanks all for your help! I've got to pull the steering wheel and tweak those innards next ... right after the neutral safety switch is installed and wired up. Had a hair raising moment when I first got it... you get used to those safety devices over time and when they're not there ... kinda convenient though to use the starter to get you out of an intersection stall while you are working the bugs out of the thing ...

The washer tanks on the early econolines were an option. They had a bracket on the right hand sid mounted behind the glove box a plastic bottle for washer fluid. Some were the foot pump and later they were electric.
I just looked at the 2 manual I have here and they do not show the washer system. My truck has the bracket, minus the bottle and the pumps. It has the spray nipples out front. Still got years to go at restoring my truck.
Check at wreckers for these options in wrecked vens of that era. Also check out a site called Ford-econoline.com this will also help.

Anybody have a spare neutral safety switch '66 C4?
 

Thanks for the response. I'll take a look tomorrow. I can't seem to find the link Ford -econoline.com. Anybody have a neutral safety switch and the little c linkage between the switch and tranny shaft for a '66 C4?
