Changed timing belt
I changed the Timing belt on my 99 Escort Zx2w/82K on it. The noise is STILL There. What is it???? It sounds like GM pistion slap but it comes for about 3 seconds. I don't know????????? Are these 2.0 DOHC motors prone to slaping? Dad swears up and down it's just the solid lifters. and he listioned to it so....? I have moble 1 5w 30 and a MC oil filter. Is it possible that the drain back valve in the MC filters are junk and I'm hearing a "dry" start??? I will switch to a Wix next oil change and pray it goes away/ :-X15 :-down I use MC oil filter only and it has always had the noise.
I guess I never put the two together... Dustin |
anyone have a clue???
|
is it just on startup?
|
yes that's when

I wouldnt recommend it but if your that concerned about it you might add half a bottle of a thicker oil additive (gunk, stp) something like that that will stick to your internals to see if it will go away. I learned a long time ago that you can learn a lot from everyonw, if your dad knows what hes talking about, you might just listen
