what about nitrous?

I have a 98 single cab 2wd ford ranger with a 2.5L and a standard 5-speed tranny. I want to install a 50 hp shot of nitrous so i can smoke a couple of imports around here that think they are hot stuff. Can any one tell me how my motor will handle this? I just want to make sure that it is safe before i do it. I have been told that it will be fine but i want to make sure. Any coments and opinions will be greatly appreciated!

Check out Summit. They carry Zex which makes a 25 and 50hp nitrous kit which doesn't require any extra fuel. NOS may make a similar kit, but I didn't see one for that low of a hp rating. I'm sure the 25hp kit would not be a problem. The 50 maybe pushing it a little bit, depending on the current state of your engine and how much you used it. If the engine was in good shape and you didn't empty the bottle every other day, you'd probably be OK.
