Smokes when cold
 

The 1.9L in my Ford Escort smokes for about 10 seconds when I first start it in the mornings and the temperature is below 45 degrees or so. It is oil smoke. And it smokes big time. I have owned the car for about 13 years and it has been doing this for at least 8 of them. The strangest thing is that the car uses absolutely no oil. And it smokes at no other time. Also has a new Ford cylinder head on it that was replaced with the leaking head gasket. It smokes just as bad as it did before so it couldn't be a valve problem. Has good compression. It is an '86 with 184K. Drive it to work daily and it runs great but the cold start smoke makes people think that it may be getting ready to catch fire. For a $1000 car I've put about 100K miles on I guess I can't complain. Has me baffled.
