Is it manual or automatic? Does it have the engine-tranny alignment dowels in place? Is the harmonic balancer still in good condition? These are things that can lead to broken flywheels.

its a automatic trans. the trans dowel pins are lined up ,the trans wouldnt fit if they wouldnt be,or would the starter.

Transmission alignment with the engine is most critical, however if it is the original
transmission/engine combination I can't see why that would change, unless the bolts came loose and the pilot holes got opened up. Any work done to the transmission?

It may be possible you dont have the converter in all the way.

Also make sure bolts in crankshaft are torqued evenly, make sure torque convertor bolts torqued properly too, as loose bolts break things too.

If you have the dowels in place, I would suggest checking that you have the proper flywheel and harmonic balancer. Does the engine vibrate or shake at all?

A question for imxscarredxtoo, *where* is the flex plate breaking?
If it's around the crank flange, you may need a spreader plate...
