just a couple of ?'s
hello everyone. just recently found this site. i was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions. Is a 300 a good engine to put into a 1965 falcon racnhero(200)? If so, what major projects would come along with doing so? im only 16, so i havent had that much experience. My father and i bought this to fix up(just some rusted floor boards and other minor things). now that i have a job im planning on putting more money into this. Any help is appreciated. thank you

I'd put a small V8 in it, probably a 302.

Which engine, if any, is in it right now? Also the transmission, which one? If you don't have an engine and transmission right now, look at the 302. Lots of parts available and they are not expensive (engine or parts).
Have fun, these are nice easy vehicles to work on. Pam |
the 300 is not a good engine for your falcon. it is too tall to fit under the hood, and probably too long to fit in the engine bay.
easiest swap is a small six, [144-200], a 250 will fit but is taller and wider than the other small sixes. the 300 swap would be as much or more trouble than the v8 swap. |
The Experience
"Puddlewatcher";
Can't tell ya myself but wanted to say the experience of building an older truck is way cool, but to do it with your Dad is awesome! good luck! Let us know how it turns out and post some pics! Cowkicker59 |
Might even want to go as far as a small block type 351 w block and matching trans(auto most likely) for this project. More power, same size as the 302, and in the long run you'll be happier with the mileage.
